The Episcopal Church has been in Utah
for 140 years
The Episcopal Church in Utah is starting a year long celebration marking
our place in Utah history. Early services took place in a hall on Salt
Lake City's Third South, followed by the establishment of one of many
schools built by the early Episcopal Church in Utah. Bishop Daniel
Tuttle rode a stage coach into Salt Lake City on a hot July day in
1867, to become the first of our 10 Bishops. He quickly oversaw construction
of St. Mark's Cathedral, the third oldest Episcopal Cathedral in America.
Special videos, signs, pictures, window decals, parish events, and publications will mark the 140th year, as we indeed celebrate our heritage! |
