Samuel S. Duryee, a member of St. Barnabas, Tooele, has been appointed as diocesan contact for the Episcopal Disability Network. He has been active in parish, diocesan and regional ministries. He has twice been a deputy to General Convention and was a volunteer at the 2006 General Convention.
He is retired and worked with the EDN to provide resources, assistance and advocacy for persons with disabilities. He can be contacted through the diocesan office or at samuelduryee@episcopal-ut.org.
Faye Mayes, a member of St. John's Logan, will leave in June for a two-year stint with the Peace Corps. She will graduate in May from Utah State University with a degree in liberal arts and science and will teach English for the Peace Corps.
She is in the choir at St. John's, where she also serves as lector. The Rev. Ruth Eller, rector of St. John's, describes her as a natural evangelist for the church. When she returns from the Peace Corps, Mayes will continue discernment on ordination.
Richard Snyder, interim editor of the Diocesan Dialogue, has been appointed as communicator for Province 8. In that role he will help coordinate communications efforts within the province and help develop a communications network to better facilitate distribution of information about provincial activities. He will continue to represent the province on the Board of Governors of Episcopal Life.
The appointment was made by the Rev. Dr. John Eastwood, president of Province 8. Snyder also serves as priest in charge of St. Michael's, Brigham City.
