New Communications Director

What a great place to be an Episcopalian! Not only are we a unique community in the Utah area, we are a unique community in the Episcopal Church. Our first Priests arrived in Utah 140 years ago to lead a handful of bold Episcopalians. Our first schools, our first demands for social justice, and the first bell to loudly ring from any Utah church soon followed. No other diocese in the Episcopal Church has our history—and few have our spirit of unity. This truly is a diocese where an Episcopalian from one parish feels at home when visiting another of the nearly two-dozen Episcopal Churches in Utah and Northern Arizona.

In January Craig Wirth took over as the new Communications Officer and editor of the Dialogue.

I am now honored and blessed to be able to serve our community as the Diocesan Communications Officer. The Rt. Rev. Carolyn Tanner Irish, our Communications Committee, and the officers of the diocese have generously committed to a communications ministry to nourish our community bonds, evangelize to Utah through the world of new media, and give us more and more reasons to thank God we are a community. And to think I thought my career in television was fun! This is going to be terrific!

I am here to serve the entire Episcopal Church ministry of Utah and Northern Arizona. I am dedicated to the diocesan charge to make the web, the Dialogue, podcasts, and all other communication efforts extensions of our closeknit relationships between parishes. Please let me know what I can do to help our ministries. Please also let me know what your ministry, parish, or group might be doing. It is important news for all of us.

Also, please consider offering your service to our Communications Committee. The Committee offers advice, oversight, and direction. The more we all talk to each other—and to our neighbors—the more we grow our treasured community.

Thanks for all your trust,
Craig Wirth
