Fund Raising
There has been considerable support for the construction of the new
diocesan center, but additional support is still needed, according
to Toni Marie Sutliff, diocesan minister of finance.
The new diocesan center, known as Episcopal Church Center being constructed just west
of the Cathedral of St. Mark will contain 33,000 square feet. It will house diocesan offices, hospitality rooms, conference space, resource center, and a coffee bar and bookstore.
More than three-quarters of the projected cost of $8.4 million has been raised or pledged, she noted.
Fund-raising efforts through the middle of December totaled $6,559,598. That total includes donations from diocesan clergy, diocesan lay leadership, and diocesan staff.
It also includes a grant from Project
Jubilee and from the Bishop's Special Purposes Fund, proceeds
of the sale of the bishop's house, and a matching grant which
matches up to $500,000 in contributions.
Sutliff noted that $1,840,402 remains to be raised to cover the cost of construction.
