There have been exciting youth ministry events in the Diocese of Utah over the last year.

The spring youth event in May 2006 drew 50 junior and senior high youth to St. Francis Church in Moab for a weekend of rafting on the Colorado River and hiking in Arches National Park.

In September 2006, more than 40 youth gathered at Camp Tuttle for fun, fellowship, and exploring ways of finding Sabbath in our busy lives. Each year, four high school youth are elected by their peers to represent them at Diocesan Convention, and last October.

Junior high youth came to Camp in January for winter fun, including snowshoeing, sledding, and a trip to Brighton ski area. In March 2007, high school youth gathered at St. John's Church, Logan, to learn more about the Millennium Development Goals.

In May 2007, Youth Impact in Ogden opened its doors to junior and senior high youth who came from around the diocese for a weekend of games and fellowship.

Coming up this summer, the Diocese of Utah will host the Province VIII Youth Event (otherwise known as PYE), July 17-22 at Westminster College. The theme for the event is "Choose the Better Part".

High school youth from around our province will gather for a week for workshops, worship, fun, a cultural carnival, and much more.

In the upcoming year, we hope to be able to continue to offer opportunities for young people from around the diocese to gather to youth events for fun, fellowship, and spiritual growth. We also hope to available to offer resources to help parishes to strengthen their own ministries.

The commitment to youth ministry in the Diocese of Utah is growing, and we look forward to continuing to discover the many ways in which all parishes in the diocese can be partners in this important ministry.
