Outreach ministries unite under Peace and Justice

As the Bishop proposed at the last Diocesan convention, the church's social justice, advocacy, and service organizations have come together under the umbrella of the Peace and Justice Commission. Issues, needs, and advocacy efforts often overlap among the outreach ministries, as do those who tirelessly serve these avocations.

An initial retreat at the ECCU brought together representatives of groups including the Peace and Justice Commission, the UN MDGs (Millennium Development Goals), Youth Poverty Fund, EPP (Episcopal Public Policy), companion diocese program, the ERD (Episcopal Relief and Development), Interfaith Power and Light, and the Anti-Racism Committee.

The outreach ministries represent the 5th Cornerstone of the fiveyear "Living Boldly" plan for the Diocese and carry out ministries in the tradition of social justice established in the first days of the church in Utah.

Those attending included Steve Alder, Terry and Ashton Palmer, Nancy Appleby, Karen van Winkle, Brin Bon, Kenny Butler, Jameson Tanner, and Dee Rowland.
