Ruth Eller to leave St. John's parish

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. (1 Corinthians 3:6)

Long-time priest at Logan's St. John's Church, the Rev. Ruth Eller, used the First Corinthians passage to tell parishioners that priests come and go, but the church remains. Eller has announced she will be leaving St. John's on June first after nine years of service.

She plans a transitional year as she moves towards retirement from parish ministry. Eller says the St. John's calling was “the job” for her. The Rev. Jerry Cook will lead the worship for much of the summer. St. John's will then have in interim priest followed by the calling of a new rector.

St. John's is one of the oldest congregations in the diocese. The Rt. Rev. Paul Jones, who is remembered by The Episcopal Church with a Feast Day, was once the priest-in-charge of the Logan landmark. The building was recently remodeled and expanded.
