Franciscans Plan Salt Lake Retreat

On June 26, 125 Episcopal- Anglican Franciscans met at Endicott College, Beverly, Mass., to celebrate their once everyfive- year Provincial Convocation.

The featured speakers were two of the three editors of the works about St. Francis of Assisi.

Franciscans from the entire Province of the Americas (Canada to South America), one of 5 world provinces for Anglican Franciscans, met to pray, study and have fellowship together.

There were Brazilians, Jamaicans, Americans; bishops, priests, and lay people. The Minister General, the Rev. Dorothy Brooker of New Zealand, was also in attendance.

At this Convocation one Utahn, Joy Capel Levetan who completed her 2-1/2-year formation program, was professed along with four others from the province. It was a joyous occasion with a celebration afterward.

Third Order Franciscans live, pray, work (and fellowship) in the world, rather than being cloistered.

A retreat will be held in the Salt Lake City area in October, sponsored by the Salt Lake City Franciscans and the 2007 graduates of EFM from All Saints.
