The Lenten Prayer of St. Ephrem the Syrian
O Lord and Master of my life! Take from me the spirit of sloth, faint-heartedness, lust of power, and idle talk. But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love to thy servant. Yea, of Lord and King! Grant me to see my own errors and not to judge my brother; For Thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen.
Dates & Deadlines
Websites R Us
TODAY is the registration deadline for Sowing and Growing Your Parish Website on March 24, Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Diocesan Offices, 80 South 300 East, Salt Lake City, UT.
Here's the challenge:
What makes us think we are still a "paper" church? Want to contact your legislator? Go to the web. Want to find recipes? Info about a prescription, medical information, etc., etc, go to the web. Here's the ouch factor: With few exceptions, the only place you cannot go on the Web to find accurate, timely information? Parish webpages. Go to Pentecostal websites - that's their ministry! A webpage is fundamental to communicating the Good News. If you are publishing a paper newsletter, you can publish a webpage! Come learn how to create, manage and promote a simple site effectively.
Presenters Judy Kiel and Craig Wirth are adjunct professors in the U's Dept. of Communications. Judy teaches web design and designs webpages for U of U's Continuing Education program. Craig teaches five communications classes at the U. To sign up, email Jessica Hatch or call 801-322-4131, Ext. 362. $15 to cover materials and lunch.
