Living Boldly
Connecting with each other, our communities and the world
August 10, 2007
Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work, especially those whose necessary work is dangerous to their health and safety; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; give us all a pride in the work we do, and compassion for those who labor in peril for the welfare of all.
We pray especially for those persons who died in the Gibson County Coal mine today near Princeton, Indiana. We pray also for those trapped in the Crandall Canyon Mine, their families and friends, and for those working around the clock to rescue them. To you, O Lord, we commend our prayer, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
