Souper Bowl of Caring

The Diocese of Utah kicks off our 150th year with the Souper Bowl of Caring. The national charity started with a simple youth group prayer: "Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat." Since that time, $125-million has been raised. For each $1 donated to your congregations, the Diocese will match $1, and for each can of food donated, the Diocese will pay 25-cents. Yanni Ordained to the Priesthood

  The Rt. Rev. Scott B Hayashi ordained The Rev. Timothy John Yanni to the Priesthood in Christ's one holy, catholic and apostolic church.  The December 17, 2016 ordination took place at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Provo. The Rev. Yanni graduated from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) in May, 2016.  His areas of study included prison ministry and hospital chaplaincy.  He is known for his passion for liturgy and pastoral care.  After his ordination, he will continue with his residency at St. Mark's Clinical Pastoral Education program and assist with St. Mary's.  ... Bishop Hosts Second Gun Safety Coalition Dinner

On Tuesday, October 18th, Bishop Scott B. Hayashi hosted this year’s second Gun Safety Coalition Dinner at the Episcopal Church Center of Utah.  The dinner is a coalition of organizations and people advocating gun safety. Attendees included House Minority Leader Brian King and Representative Angela Romero, as well as local law enforcement officials and many other prominent leaders in the fight against gun violence. Representatives from grass-roots organizations such as “Moms Demand Action” were there to provide support and create discussion. The Rev. Gabriel Atem ordained in festive service

  As the wonder of God's work in the Episcopal Church in Utah approaches its 150th year, we celebrate profound moments of the journey. One of those moments was the ordination of Gabriel Garang Atem to the Sacred Order of Priests. Gabriel+ started his journey as a Lost Boy of the Sudan wandering the desert of Africa. The ordination of Gabriel Garang Atem offered a chance to see the  All Saint's Sudanese congregation is a treasure of the diocese. The Lost Boys and Lost Girls of the Sudan represent not only one of the world's greatest story of courage, but one of the world's greatest stories of faith for those who walked the desert for years never knowing if they would see the blazing sun rise the next day.
