Bishop joins Amicus Curiae brief on opposing president’s restriction on immigration

Bishop Scott B. Hayashi has joined 13 other bishops in filing an amici curiae brief that opposes President Trump's executive order restricting immigration. The brief has been filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth District. Bishop Hayashi explained his position to join the filing of the brief within his remarks and sermon delivered to the Diocesan Convention. The Presiding Bishop Inspires Diocesan Convention

Our diocese was blessed to welcome Presiding Bishop Michael Bruce Curry back to Salt Lake City as the guest of honor and keynote speaker for Diocesan Convention. He addressed the convention Friday at the business session and during a banquet held that evening. Guests included various leaders from local faith communities, including General Authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the new bishop of the Salt Lake City Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. Tracking Tuttle to Today – Utah Booth Showcases Diocesan History

Kurt Cook, Diocesan Historiographer, gathered many of the most treasured artifacts of our diocese and put them on display at Diocesan Convention 2017. Bishop Tuttle's Book of Common Prayer, church registries of long-gone churches, and mitres belonging to Bishops Watson and Charles were on display, among other treasures. The Rev. Gabriel Atem ordained in festive service

  As the wonder of God's work in the Episcopal Church in Utah approaches its 150th year, we celebrate profound moments of the journey. One of those moments was the ordination of Gabriel Garang Atem to the Sacred Order of Priests. Gabriel+ started his journey as a Lost Boy of the Sudan wandering the desert of Africa. The joyous event took place at All Saints on Oct. 1, 2016 as The Rt. Rev. Scott B. Hayashi ordained the leader of the Sudanese Congregation that has met at All Saints for over a decade. Pins, Hats, Bags and the 150th Anniversary

The 150th anniversary of the Episcopal Church in Utah officially kicked off its celebration at Diocesan Convention 2017. At the 150th table, task force members distributed mints, pins, bags and hats with the beautiful 150th logo. The hats proved to be particularly popular. Throughout the year, Episcopalians are encouraged to display the logo proudly, using souvenirs as well as banners and posters to promote excitement and togetherness during this occasion. There will be five regional celebrations held later in the year throughout the diocese. More information to come.

Sanchez and Walker Ordained

By the grace of God and with the consent of God's people, The Rt. Rev. Scott B. Hayashi, 11th Bishop of Utah, ordained Patricia Anne Sanchez and Kathalin Ree Walker to the diaconate at the recent Diocesan Convention, held at Hotel RL, Salt Lake City.
