Pre-Convention Meeting Scheduled for March 4, 2017

Bishop Scott B. Hayashi has called for a Pre-Convention meeting for March 4th at 10:00 to noon in order to discuss resolutions, offer information on the Diocesan Council passed budget for 2017, introduce nominees for office, and brief the diocese on the convention to be held March 31st and April 1st at the RL Hotel in Salt Lake City. New Diocesan Social Media Accounts

The Diocese has stepped up its social media presence and our response has been terrific. Halee Oliver, the Assistant Director of Diocesan Communications has headed up the social media team. She is also advising our congregations on improving the use of social media. We have created new pages for Twitter and Instagram. The handle for both accounts is @EpiscopalUtah. Memorial Service Held for The Venerable Francis “Pete” Winder

After nearly 60-years of service to the Diocese of Utah, The Venerable Francis "Pete" Winder died February 4, 2017. There probably were no pulpits in the diocese that weren't graced by Fr. Winder. He even served as vicar of now gone churches in Dugway and Magna. He is beloved for his 17-years as Rector of Good Shepherd, Ogden in addition to his years serving the Diocese of Utah as Archdeacon and Executive Officer. He also served for several terms as Standing Committee President. Bishop Hayashi Hosts Third Gun Safety Coalition Dinner

Bishop Scott B. Hayashi hosted the first Utah Gun Safety Coalition Dinner of 2017 at the Episcopal Church Center of Utah on Tuesday, January 17th. Although it was the first one in the New Year, it was the third meeting for this group. Gun violence is one cornerstone of the Bishop's ministry of social justice. The attendance at each meeting continues to rise.
