Priest Associate (Temporary)

Cathedral Church of St. Mark – SLC

Part-Time

The Cathedral Church of St. Mark in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking to hire a priest for 6 to 9 months beginning April 15. This start date is flexible to the needs of the candidate. This appointment offers an attractive package, including housing just steps away from the cathedral, car, beautiful mountain views, and generous stipend. This is the perfect appointment for those seeking to explore the mountain West. Utah is home to five national parks, closeby hiking, biking and walking trails, desert and mountain terrain for exploring. In addition, Salt Lake City has much to offer: arts, culture, many local restaurants and bars, public transportation. It is also a safe city to walk in and explore.

The Cathedral parish is a vibrant, welcoming and growing church to serve in. We are blessed to be striving to keep up with our family and children ministry. We have growing college and young adult ministries. We baptized 11 people in January. We are also a church in transition, in the middle of the search for our next Cathedral dean.

The ideal candidate would be an experienced, retired priest who still has much to give and many gifts to share. We value clergy who are down to earth, prayerful, and have a sense of humor. This position is between 20 to 30 hours weekly of priestly work. Duties include:

1.) Leading Sunday and mid-week services,
2.) Preaching once to twice a month,
3.) Providing pastoral care to parishioners in nearby hospitals and homes,
4.) Planning and teaching formation classes, which parishioners enjoy,
5.) Counseling with newcomers, preparing them for baptism or confirmation, teaching them about the Episcopal faith, and performing the important healing work that may come about in sessions.

If you have questions, feel free to reach out to Mtr. Holly Huff, Priest-in-Charge, at 814-933-7830. If you would like to apply, please send a resume to holly@stmarksutah.org
