The Episcopal Diocese of Utah understands racial healing, justice, and reconciliation as essential expressions of our baptismal covenant. When we promise to seek and serve Christ in all persons, strive for justice and peace, and respect the dignity of every human being, we commit ourselves to the ongoing work of building Beloved Community.
The Episcopal Church’s vision of Becoming Beloved Community invites us into a lifelong journey of formation, relationship, truth-telling, healing, and action. This work is not separate from discipleship—it is discipleship. Through prayer, learning, self-examination, and engagement with our communities, we seek to follow Jesus more faithfully while addressing the divisions and inequities that continue to affect our world.
As a Diocese, we are committed to fostering communities where all people are valued, heard, and empowered to participate fully in the life of the Church.
Formation and Action
The work of racial healing requires both spiritual formation and meaningful action. Throughout the Diocese, congregations and individuals are encouraged to engage with educational opportunities, community conversations, worship resources, and events that deepen understanding and strengthen our shared commitment to justice.
This work is supported through diocesan initiatives, convention resolutions, and partnerships that help Episcopalians grow as disciples while responding to the realities of racial injustice in our communities.
