Supporting Discernment & Formation
The Commission on Ministry supports the Bishop in discerning the present and emerging ministry needs of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah. It accompanies people exploring both lay and ordained ministry, helping them listen deeply, discern faithfully, and grow in their call.
The Commission offers guidance to inquirers, postulants, candidates, deacons, and clergy throughout the process of formation. It also supports ongoing learning and leadership development so that all who serve may be equipped for ministry in the Church and in the world.
Ordination Process
A call to ordained ministry is discerned in community. The process begins with conversation and prayer alongside your clergy-in-charge, congregation, and the Commission on Ministry. From there, applicants move through a thoughtful process of discernment, formation, interviews, and preparation for possible ordination to the diaconate or priesthood.
