Diocesan Convention ’26
Uplifted by Grace
About Convention
Diocesan Convention brings together clergy and elected lay delegates from across Utah for worship, fellowship, and the shared work of the Diocese. Delegates hear updates on diocesan ministries, consider and vote on resolutions, elect leaders and representatives, and recognize individuals and ministries through Convention awards. Together, we gather to conduct the business of the Diocese while discerning how we are called to serve Christ and our communities.

Resources for Delegates
Serving as a delegate to Diocesan Convention is an important opportunity to represent your congregation and participate in the life of the wider Church. Resources are provided to help delegates understand the Convention process and engage confidently in the work before us.
Review the 2026 Diocesan budget and the positions open for election at Convention. These materials provide important information for delegates as they prepare for the business of the Diocese.
Review the resolutions submitted for consideration at Diocesan Convention. Delegates are encouraged to read these materials in advance and come prepared for discussion and voting.
Review the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah, along with any proposed amendments before Convention. These documents establish the structure, governance, and procedures of the Diocese.
Explore reports from diocesan committees, commissions, ministries, and other organizations submitted for Convention. Together, these reports provide a record of the work and ministry taking place across the Diocese. Links coming soon.
Explore the Diocesan Convention archives for materials and information from previous conventions. Use the links below to access past reports, resolutions, election results, and other Convention resources.
Workshops
There’s more to Convention than the business of the Diocese. This year’s workshops offer opportunities to learn, connect, and bring new ideas and practical resources back to your congregation.
All registered Convention participants are expected to attend workshops. Each workshop will be offered twice during Convention, and recordings will be made available following the event. Because space may be limited in some sessions, please select your first, second, and third workshop choices using the workshop numbers (for example: #1, #5, #8). Your assigned workshops will be printed on your name badge and available when you check in at Convention.

#1 Grace in Action: Caring for Creation
Workshop description:
Grace in Action: Caring for Creation invites Episcopalians to move from awareness to faithful action. Join us to share highlights and key handouts from the Creation Care Conference, where participants explored practical and meaningful ways we can care for God’s world—through conversation and learning centered on water, air, fire, and land. We’ll also reflect on current work to protect Bears Ears and highlight resources congregations can adapt for their own communities.
The second half of the workshop offers an overview of Eco-Region opportunities across the diocese and introduces our new Eco-Region Fellow role—exploring how this partnership can support congregations, strengthen local creation care efforts, and help grow a network of sustainability and stewardship throughout our shared Episcopal communities.
#2 Seeds of Grace: Feeding the Hungry
Workshop Description:
Hunger is closer than many of us realize. Join us for an inspiring conversation on how faith communities can respond to food insecurity with compassion, dignity, and meaningful action. Learn about the realities of hunger in Utah, where thousands of families and 1 in 5 children struggle to access enough food, and discover practical ways congregations and individuals can make a difference.
Our presenter is the Board Chair of Tackle Hunger. Tackle Hunger, home of the Souper Bowl of Caring, mobilizes churches, schools, businesses, and youth leaders nationwide to support local hunger relief efforts and has helped generate more than $220 million in food and financial donations since 1990.
Come explore how our shared values of service, generosity, and care for our neighbors can help create communities where no one goes hungry.
#3 Grace in Community: Creating Beloved Community through the Arts
Workshop Description:
How can the arts help build Beloved Community? Join Dr. Edwin Stafford as he expands on his keynote panel remarks and shares how creativity can inspire conversations about creation care, community, and faith.
Participants will learn about an exciting opportunity for congregations across the Diocese of Utah to partner in parish-sponsored art, poetry, and music competitions centered on Becoming Beloved Community. This workshop will offer practical ideas for engaging people of all ages and extending the church's witness into the wider community through the arts.
#4 Grace in the Streets: Living God’s Love Beyond the Church Walls
Workshop Description:
This workshop is an interactive, community-building workshop designed to help participants explore how God’s grace moves beyond the walls of the church and into the everyday world. Rooted in the convention theme “Uplifted by Grace,” this session invites attendees to reflect on how grace shows up in public spaces, in acts of service, in moments of conflict, and in the ordinary encounters of daily life.
Through guided conversation, storytelling, and collaborative activities, participants will examine what “Grace in the Streets” means in their own lives and how local parishes are already embodying this call through outreach, compassion, and presence. Together, the group will imagine new ways to bring grace into neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and community spaces—becoming visible signs of God’s love in the world.
#5 Congregational Vitality: Uplifted and Alive in God
Workshop Description:
What makes a congregation truly alive? We often answer with visible signs such as attendance, finances, or busy programs. Yet, these measures tell only part of the story. Congregational vitality may be found less in what a church does than in what it’s members experience.
This workshop invites participants to explore congregational vitality through three emerging lenses: meaning, belonging, and transformation. Through conversation and reflection, participants will consider how these experiences may help us recognize God’s grace at work in our communities, challenge common assumptions about church vitality, and deepen our understanding of what it means to be alive in God.

Through this fund, the Diocese seeks to respond to immediate needs and stand alongside our immigrant neighbors during times of uncertainty and separation.
Giving at Diocesan Convention
We will be accepting donations to the Support Fund during Diocesan Convention. Those attending are invited to contribute as they are able, helping the Diocese continue providing practical support to immigrant individuals and families in our communities.
